Summer Break, Team Analysis - Formula 1 2024

What a turn around! I mean really, at the beginning of the season, did anyone other than Mercedes think we would get here? I'm glad to say I did, well sorta. I had my doubts....

Back at the end of February, I had my bold predictions post, and at that time, I predicted that Hamilton would win, and multiple times. He has won twice now, and yes one was due to George being disqualified for being to light, but guess what, Hamilton was leading that race throughout and deserved the win. A win in Silverstone, a win in Belgium for Hamilton, and a win in Austria for George has suddenly sling shotted Mercedes into the mix again.

It was just a matter of time before the team at Mercedes got things figured out, and better late than never. With McLaren looking razor sharp these days, and Ferrari having a bit of a stumble, it's kept Red Bull busy looking in their rear view, and opened the door for a surging Merc team to make some noise.

While the Constructors Championship may still be out of reach (Mercedes is in 4th and 142 points behind Red Bull), the driver's championship is a whole other ball of wax. Now I'm not saying Hamilton has a chance at it, but between he and Russell, they could very well make it extremely interesting for Verstappen as we head into the 2nd half of the season. He is only 78 points ahead of Norris, and that's not as big a cushion as it seems. Hamilton would love to be the spoiler for Max's 4th championship. He won't come out and say it of course, but how can he not have that on his mind?

Everything is available and for the taking as we start up racing again next weekend. George is hungry for points, Lewis wants to continue to push and gain podiums and trophies for his final hurrah at Mercedes. They are absolutely pointed in the right direction, finally. And it's going to be fun to see how it plays out.

As for 2025? There is still an open seat next to George. Will it be Kimi Antonelli? I have a feeling we find out very soon... Until then, it's HAMMER TIME!!!
